FOOD SAFETY & QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) is a systematic science based process for identifying risk points in the process chain and for developing effective controls to minimise any contamination risks during the production process.
Our business operates a comprehensive Food Safety Quality Management System incorporating a HACCP system that starts at our intake with rigorous scrutiny on all the flow of product and ends at delivery to our customers. All of our suppliers must also pass stringent guidelines to be come an Approved Supplier
Our approach is ensuring complete integrity to every aspect of our supply chain. From correct raw material sourcing, right through to end use by the consumer. We achieve this through use of the best systems and processes and a commitment to excellent quality every time.
Our HACCP team is headed by Technical Manager and includes skilled staff from the Technical Department, procurement, processing, R&D, quality assurance and distribution.
We are subject to unannounced inspections by an official Veterinary Inspector (Department of Agriculture, Food & Marine), and also by a Technical Agriculture Officer. Our Trade Counter is also subject to unannounced inspections by Environmental Health Officers. These unannounced inspections also help maintain our Food Safety and Quality Management System to the highest standard.
Our systems are subject to independent audit every 12 months.
We also conduct internal audits on all parts of our Food Safety & Quality Management System.
We continue to invest significantly in our facilities, our systems and training to ensure that we constantly exceed the rigorous demands expected
When it comes to hygiene and food safety all current legislation and regulations are adhered to.
To ensure that we remain up to date on all legislation and industry developments, we also use the services of a number of agencies such as FSAI, Department of Agriculture, Food & Marine, Teagasc/National Food Centre.

BRC Global Standard - Food
SAI Global is the leading provider of supplier evaluations in the world to this standard, currently completing more evaluation than any other certification body. The standard is applicable for any supplier, regardless of produce or country of origin, and sets the standard for food manufacturing plants.
What the standard covers
In 1998 the British Retail Consortium (BRC), responding to industry needs, developed and introduced the BRC Food Technical Standard to be used to evaluate manufacturers of retailers own brand food products.
The main requirements of this standard are the adoption of HACCP, a documented quality management system and control of factory environmental standards, process and personnel.
In a short space of time, this Standard has become invaluable to other organisations across the sector. It was and still is regarded as the benchmark for best practice in the food industry. This and its use outside the UK has seen it evolve into a Global Standard used not just to assess retailer suppliers, but as a framework upon which many companies have based their supplier assessment programmes and manufacture of some branded products.
Benefits of the standard
It is designed to be used as a pillar to help retailers and brand owners with their 'due diligence' defence, should they be subject to a prosecution by the enforcement authorities. Under EU food Law, retailers and brand owners have a legal responsibility for their brands.
Accepted by buyers
The majority of UK, and many European and Global retailers, and brand owners will only consider business with suppliers who have gained certification to the appropriate BRC Global Standard.
